Privacy at Daylight.

Daylight is a daily planner by Neputer. This notice explains what the application stores and how you can control it.

Without an account

Your planner, preferences, and timer save in this browser’s local storage. A service worker caches the app so it can reopen offline. Guest tasks are not sent to the account service. Clearing site data removes these local copies; export a backup first.

When you sign in

The service stores your account email and planner data so it can sync your devices. Google sign-in stores your verified email and Google account identifier. It does not request access to your Gmail, Drive, or contacts, and does not store your Google password. Email/password accounts store a salted password hash.

Private operational reports record account creation, successful sign-ins, last cloud sync, last sign-in method, and aggregate cloud-save counts. Fixed request-status counts help identify sign-in and sync failures without recording submitted credentials or task contents. Only authorized administrators can view account emails and these activity records. Daily account activity is kept for up to 180 days; account timestamps and lifetime counts remain until you delete the account. These records help us operate the service and are separate from optional visitor analytics.

A necessary, HttpOnly session cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. Google sign-in also uses a short-lived verification cookie. Local account copies stay on devices you used, including while offline. Anyone with access to your browser profile may be able to view them.

Google and other requests

Opening Google sign-in loads Google Identity Services and connects to Google to verify your account. Google handles those requests under its privacy policy. App fonts are served locally. Hosting infrastructure may process technical request information to deliver and protect the service.

Optional analytics

Daylight also measures visits and fixed feature events on its own server for private usage reports. A random browser cookie recognizes repeat visits; only a hash of that identifier is stored in daily reports. These records are not linked to your account, contain no task content, and are kept for up to 180 days. The same analytics settings and browser privacy signals control this measurement.

Daylight loads Google Analytics by default to understand page visits and feature use, such as opening the planner, creating or completing a task, using focus time, and signing in. Google receives technical information such as browser and device details and processes your IP address to estimate general location. Analytics uses cookies to recognize visits. We do not send task titles, notes, list names, account details, search text, or URL query strings and fragments. Advertising features are off. Google processes analytics under its privacy policy.

Turn analytics off or back on using Analytics settings below. Your preference stays in this browser until you change it or clear site data. Turning analytics off removes Daylight analytics cookies and reloads this page to stop measurement. Analytics cookies last up to 180 days. We respect browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Turning off analytics does not affect planning or account sync. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice lasts only on the current page.

Backups and deletion

Export your planner from Settings at any time. Manage account lets you permanently delete your account and its live cloud data after verification. Guest data and offline copies on other devices are separate: clear this site’s browser data on each device to remove those copies. Up to ten deployment backups can retain earlier data until replaced by newer deployment backups. Contact Neputer with questions about retained copies.

Keeping data safe

Account access requires authentication. Deployment uses HTTPS. Planner content is not end-to-end encrypted; the service operator and anyone with database access could read it. Keep passwords and exported backups safe. Email password recovery is not currently available.
