A LITTLE GUIDE TO DAYLIGHT

Daily planning, one step at a time.

Daylight by Neputer is a free browser-based daily to-do planner. Use the Today, Tomorrow, and Later board to capture tasks, organize lists, and build routines. Start without an account, or sign in with Google for cross-device task sync.

Start your planner

Start with one task

Open the planner without creating an account. Under Today, click Add item, type a task title, and press Enter. The input stays ready for your next thought. You can also use the Add task button or press N when you are not typing in a field.

Edit a title where it is

Click any task title to edit it directly on the board. Press Enter or click away to save. Press Escape to cancel. Use the three-dot button for notes, a date, list changes, a repeat schedule, duplication, or deletion. A flag marks a priority; a checkbox marks completion.

Plan today, tomorrow, and later

The board shows Today, Tomorrow, and Later together. Drag a task to another column to change its date. The date picker lets you plan another day; the task editor provides date and reorder controls without dragging. Later contains tasks from two days after the selected date onward.

Give different parts of life their own lists

Start with Personal and Work, or create named lists with your own colors. Select a list to focus the board. Search finds task titles and notes; priority filtering helps you find flagged work. Completed history keeps a record of finished tasks.

Repeat the tasks that repeat in life

Choose daily, weekdays, selected weekly days, or selected monthly dates in a task’s editor. Manage schedules in Routines, where you can pause or resume them. A monthly task scheduled for day 31 skips months without that date. Missed routine days do not create a backlog, and deleted occurrences stay deleted.

Carry unfinished work into your next day

When you next open Daylight, unfinished one-off tasks from earlier dates can move into today. Completed tasks stay on their original dates. This carry-forward behavior can be turned off in Settings.

Use Google sign-in to take your plans along

Guest tasks stay in this browser. Sign in with Google to save an account planner and open the same account on another device. An existing account opens its own planner; guest data stays separate and returns when you sign out. Changes save while connected. When devices edit the same account at once, Daylight asks which copy to keep instead of silently overwriting it.

Keep planning offline and keep a backup

After the first complete visit, the planner can reopen offline and save changes on the device. Account sync resumes when connected. Export a JSON backup from Settings before clearing site data or changing browsers. Import replaces the current planner after confirmation. A new domain has separate browser storage; export your old guest planner before moving.

Make room for focus

Start a focus session from the timer below the board. Change its length in Settings. The timer survives a refresh on the same device. Timer state does not sync across devices and does not promise background sounds or notifications.

Choose the appearance that works for you

New planners start in Light mode. Choose Light, Dark, or System in Settings whenever you want. Daylight remembers your saved preference. Keyboard shortcuts include N for a new task, / for search, and ? for help when you are not typing in a field.

Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. Open the planner and start. Your tasks save in this browser. An account adds cross-device sync; guest and account planners stay separate.

What happens to unfinished tasks?

Unfinished one-off tasks move to today when you next open the planner. Completed tasks stay in your history. You can turn carry-forward off in Settings.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. The board adapts to smaller screens. Signed-in accounts sync between devices while connected; offline changes wait until you reconnect. Conflicting edits ask you which copy to keep.

Does it work offline?

After your first full visit, the planner can reopen offline. Tasks save locally; account sync needs a connection. Keep a backup before clearing browser storage.

Can I take my data with me?

Yes. Export a JSON backup in Settings and restore it later. You can also delete your account and its cloud data from Manage account.
